My new used kayak

I've been back to using my kayak for about 5 months now, having healed adequately from my hip operation, and having finally replaced my once sunken boat lift with a Jet Dock modular raft. I've been getting a little dissatisfied with using the tandem kayak I've had for a few years. I feel a bit peculiar sitting in the back of the kayak with the tail (do kayaks have a stern?) nearly underwater from my off-center and growing weight. So I started searching craigslist.com for a single-seater. I wanted to keep the tandem for the rare occasion when I had a co-kayaker.

The search was a bit frustrating as used kayaks seem to get bought up pretty quickly in South Florida. Every time I saw an ad for a decent single and called or emailed about it, it seemed to be sold. But I finally found one and I bought it last night. It's pretty well used, but probably quite seaworthy. The only concern I have is that the advertised weight capacity is a good 20 pounds less than I weigh, but I bought it when the owner insisted that he weighed as much as I do and he had no issue with it's buoyancy. Hopefully he is right, or I'll be reselling it and probably buying something new. Tomorrow morning the conditions are supposed to be pretty decent so I might just give it a try, even though I may wait until the weekend when I wouldn't be trying it in the pre-dawn darkness.
